Project Description: "Better Boots"
"Better Boots" encapsulates the culmination of my senior capstone project, where I undertook the ambitious task of redesigning the quintessential snowboard boot. Dissatisfied with the status quo, I embarked on a journey to reimagine every aspect of this essential piece of snowboarding equipment.
My approach was grounded in collaboration and expertise. Drawing insights from industry professionals at renowned companies such as ThirtyTwo Snowboard Boots, Vans Snow, and even Nike and Jordan Brand designers, I immersed myself in the world of snowboard boot design. Through these invaluable interactions, I gained deep insights into the nuances of boot construction, material science, and user preferences.
Deconstructing the modern-day snowboard boot to its core, I focused on three fundamental aspects: the Toe Box, Lacing System, and Heel Hold. These elements, often overlooked, proved to be pivotal in redefining the performance and comfort of the boot. With each iteration, I honed in on innovative solutions that addressed the shortcomings of existing designs while pushing the boundaries of functionality and aesthetics.
Months of relentless revisions and on-snow testing ensued, as I meticulously refined my prototypes to perfection. Each iteration brought me closer to my vision of the ultimate snowboard boot – one that seamlessly blends form and function, providing unparalleled performance and comfort on the slopes.
